Update, 5:13 p.m.: Some residents are reporting that power has returned.
Update, 5:06 p.m.: Portland General Electric’s website now says that a tree fell on a power line.
The cause of a power outage currently affecting 768 Portland General Electric (PGE) customers in Gales Creek — zip codes 97116 and 97117 — is under investigation, but power is expected to return by 8:35 p.m., according to information published on PGE’s website.
Originally, PGE’s website said power would be restored by 7:37 p.m.
David Warner, director of communications for the Forest Grove School District, said all Oak Grove Academy students already left for the day prior to the outage.
Multiple Banks-area residents reported that power at their homes and businesses flickered, but did not fully go out.
The Gales Creek Tavern also has no power, and calls to the popular watering hole went unanswered.
Forest Grove Fire & Rescue could not immediately be reached for comment regarding if the Gales Creek Station was without power as well.
PGE spokesperson Brianne Hyder said dispatchers still are out investigating the cause of the outage.
“Usually they’re good about keeping (the website) updated, so that’s going to be your best bet for new information this evening,” she said.
