Mushroom picker missing in Tillamook State Forest near Coast Range Summit

Tillamook State Forest – Search and rescue teams are looking for Michael Scott Lund, 49, in the Tillamook State Forest after he was reported missing by a friend on September 25 around 4:30 p.m. 

According to the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, Lund failed to return from mushroom picking in the area of Drift Creek Forest Road near mile post 2 off of Highway 6. 

Lund is described as 5’10” tall, weighs approximately 220 lbs, and has brown hair and blue eyes. At the time of last contact, Lund was wearing a gray flannel shirt, tan pants and a baseball cap.

According to family members, Lund does not have a history of mental health and is in overall good health. 

Investigators say Lund was not equipped for an extended stay in the heavily forested area in the Coast Range mountains. 

In addition to the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Mountain Wave Rescue, Pacific Northwest Rescue and the Oregon Department of Forestry are assisting in the search and rescue operation.
